Dorothy Nell Myers

1927-2023

A heart for Baptist missions was instilled early in the life of Dorothy Myers. As a member of Gaston Avenue Baptist Church, known around the Southern Baptist Convention for its legacy of sponsoring foreign missionaries, Dorothy was a charter member of Gaston Oaks Baptist Church and the Gaston Christian Center (GCC) Board of Directors.

A native of Denton, Texas, she graduated from Howard Payne College, Brownwood, in 1946 and committed a lifetime of service to Baptist institutions, community service organizations, nonprofit ministries, and Gaston Christian Center. Dorothy expressed her continuous love and dedication to missions through her longtime service as a prayerful voice on the GCC Board.

Joy Fenner

1935-2024

Late in her missionary career, Joy Fenner served for 12 years as Chairperson on the Board of Directors for the Gaston Christian Center (GCC) in Dallas. Committed to its mission and the services provided to refugees from around the world by a variety of diverse nonprofit organizations working out of the GCC, Joy felt at home. She was a longtime member of Gaston Oaks Baptist Church where she worshiped and served with a prayerful commitment to missions.

After a lifetime career serving Texas Baptists and worldwide Christian missionary endeavors, Joy’s legacy continued through her presence, service, and dedication to the Gaston Christian Center. It is through God’s grace, the compassion for others, and the vision of people such as Joy Fenner that the GCC mission is sustained.
